The Historic New Orleans Collection (HNOC) recently acquired a significant portfolio of 70s and 80s photographs from Josephine’s New Orleans Documentary Collection, as well as her latest luxury edition book, Barking at God. The acquisition includes vintage photographs from Josephine’s French Quarter series, Sanctuary, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
The HNOC is a fantastic museum and research center dedicated to providing free public access to the rich history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South.
Thank you to everyone at the HNOC for all you do!
We had wonderful studio visits with friends from the HNOC: Mallory Taylor, Associate Curator; Nina Bozak, Curator of Rare Books; and Catie Sampson, Digital Collections Archivist.
“It’s hard to believe that what started as a personal project documenting my love of this city and its people has evolved into something larger, taking on new meanings and relevance. Words cannot fully express how honored I am to see my work preserved by such a vital institution. Here are some of my favorite images from the collection.” – Josephine Sacabo
